Entry Details
(Please note this
competition has already taken place, these details are for information only)
The Bourne Concert Band is organising a competition in memory
of a band member tragically killed in a road accident just over a year ago.
David Allen was a young musician in the band who played the euphonium to a very
high standard. He enjoyed all types of music, including that of the band Oasis,
and went on to study engineering at Bath University. We are looking for a new piece
of music between 2-7 minutes to dedicate to his memory.
We are not looking for a particular style of piece and are
keen to accept entries in any form e.g. a march, overture, medley, etc. The only
requirement is that it should depict a celebration of life. There is no entry
fee to pay.
The winning entry will be retained by the band who will have
exclusive rights to the piece for one year. It will be performed as part of our
standard repertoire.
The band comprises about 40 members of all ages who are of AB
Grades 5-8+ standard.
A single prize of £600 is available to the winner. There is
no runner up prize.
If there are no suitable entries a prize will not be awarded.
